73Cattle and an animated trade for all stock with all buyers competing well for quality stock and O grade cattle looking exceptionally dear. It was a great pity that 3 consignments did not arrive due to weather conditions. Cattle will be wanted next week. Again, weight not an issue. We had steers to £1,648.28 from E Halsall & Sons with others to £1,567.49. The same vendor having heifers to £1,596, £1,575.50 etc. Tony Evans Limousin steer to £1,554.74, Robert Walker steers to £1,604.73, £1,544.62. Tim Knighton heifers to £1,432.80, Brian Lawrence steers to £1,472.25, £1,437.73 etc. Bulls to £1,379.24 from Ben Whiting. Messrs Raven Bros topped both the steer and heifer per kg with steers to 242.5pkg and heifers to 245.5pkg both purchased by Colin Byford. The Halsalls 6 Blond X steers and heifers av 234.5pkg. David Coe, Needham, steer to 239.5pkg, heifer to 235.5pkg. A run of ¾ meat BBX steers and heifers 183.5 to 212.5pkg depending on finish. All in all a very successful day with no cattle under 180.5pkg! Probably the dearest trade seen for some time! All cattle av 212.93.
